About Ali

Software engineer with experience building full-stack web applications, AI-powered systems and developer tools using React, Node.js, PostgreSQL and Rust. I like scalable software, learning new technologies, and solving hard engineering problems with collaborative Agile teams.

Operating rules

How I work

  1. Readable before clever

Interfaces people can read, operate by keyboard and trust. Motion is a seasoning, not the meal.

  2. Reliable product code

Maintainable components, clear state flow, and tooling that catches regressions before they reach production.

  3. End to end

React, Node.js, databases, retrieval pipelines, deployment — the product has to hold together across every layer.

Lines

The five lines, briefly

  • Frontend

React interfaces built for real use: accessible, quick to respond, and maintainable as they grow.

  • Backend

APIs, real-time flows and data layers — from SQL in desktop ERP to Node.js services.

  • AI

Retrieval-augmented systems grounded in real data. The newest line on the network, still extending.

  • Systems

Lower-level tooling, protocols and databases: the parts that have to be correct before anything is pretty.

  • Learning & teaching

Formal foundations, retraining in Barcelona, then helping the next cohort get where I am.

How this site is built

Every page is written in React and TypeScript, rendered to static HTML at build time, and served from GitHub Pages. The browser receives no framework: the moving trains, the journey planner, the theme switch and the contact form are a few kilobytes of plain TypeScript, and the site works without them.

The map is generated from a single data file, so adding a project adds a station. Page changes use native cross-document view transitions where the browser supports them. Type is set in Archivo, whose width axis does the job of a signage typeface.
